Block Island is tiny island off the southern coast of Rhode Island with an absolutely breathtaking landscape. At nearly every turn on Block Island there are havens of undisturbed nature where wildlife thrives. Travelers can get a taste of the island's natural abundance on any of its 28 miles of walking trails and 17 miles of beach, both rocky and sandy. The island can even be seen on horseback or via helicopter.
The clay cliffs that form Mohegan Bluff and the South East Lighthouse that sits atop it are probably Block Island's most iconic sights, and absolutely worth visiting for the views alone. For those who prefer to really get moving in all that nature, there are lots of options from parasailing and paddleboarding to surfing and swimming.
