TUI Cruises Cruise Tips, Activities, and Overview

Who goes on TUI Cruises cruise ships?

German speakers, mainly from Germany, Austria and Switzerland. The ships attract families and more mature cruisers, but overall pulls in an older market than that drawn to rival AIDA.

Do I have to dress up on a TUI Cruises cruise?

No. The dress code is smart-casual throughout. There are no formal nights and the only requirement is no shorts or swimwear in the restaurants.

Is everything free on TUI Cruises cruises?

Almost. All the TUI Mein Schiff ships are all-inclusive, so there's no bar bill unless you opt for premium drinks. Water stations are available for filling up bottles, and cabins come with espresso machines. Gratuities are included, too.

You will, however, pay extra for specialty dining and for some premium dishes at the buffet.

What are TUI Cruises’s most popular activities?

The emphasis onboard TUI cruises is on health and fitness, and passengers prefer active excursions, including anything from cycling to e-scooters, scuba diving and golf. Typical fitness facilities include jogging tracks, outdoor gym equipment, a sports court and a large pool deck, and all are well used. At night, the bars, restaurants and theater shows are all popular.

Why go with TUI Cruises?

  • All-inclusive cruising, with drinks, tips and many activities covered
  • Emphasis on wellness, right down to group running excursions in port
  • Caters to German-speaking passengers

Best for: German speakers looking for all-inclusive, informal cruising

Not for: Non-German speakers and anybody strongly opposed to smoking

Nice ship but everything else is bad

No problems with it being a German speaking ship.No one wants to be sold an excursion at 100 decibels while eating their dinner.Read More

Very good Corona concept - poor AI concept.

What remains as a conclusion: 7 days on a very large ship with a perfect hygiene concept and nice cabins - mediocre culinary and above all an AI concept that is not relaxing but annoying. But on the positive side: TUI's Corona concept is convincing, the check-in hassle-free, the staff in Kiel very nice.Read More

Fantastic Re-Start in Greece - Mein Schiff 6

Thats why the captain decided to stay in Piraeus port one day longer and on the next day all the planned excursions could be offered. After arrival at the cruise terminal there was a short waiting time inside the bus cause the number of people inside the terminal "building"(it can hardly be called building) was restricted.Read More

Mein Schiff 1 - a German "feel good ship" - all inclusive concept with homing style

Therefore the cruise went to Stockholm / Sweden and Turku / Finland, with no opportunity for shore excursions.Usually cruise ships arrive in Stockholm very early in the morning, so passengers won't have a chance to see the breathtaking skerries (rocky islands shore landscape) which takes about 5 hours to sail through, a pure childhood dream from an Astrid Lindgren book.Read More
