Zegrahm Expeditions attracts travelers primarily from North America; most are retired and solidly in the baby boomer age group (60+). They are well-educated with extensive travel experience. While families are permitted, there are no facilities for children onboard, and kids under the age of 10 are discouraged.

Expedition casual is the usual attire, both during the day and in the evening. A somewhat dressier outfit is the norm for welcome evenings and captain's parties, however.

Zegrahm cruises are all-inclusive, meaning everything from your daily activities, lectures and tours to meals, Wi-Fi, transfers and all gratuities are included in the price. Additionally, beer and wine are offered at lunch and dinner. Emergency evacuation insurance is even included. You'll pay extra for the hair salon, massages, cocktails, laundry, items from the gift shop and your airfare.

As with most expedition cruises, life onboard Zegrahm's sailings is packed with learning; onboard lectures and documentary film screenings are all popular with passengers, as is scenic sightseeing. But it's the land-based activities, including birding, nature walks, snorkeling and diving, which passengers look forward to the most. Depending on where you're sailing, cultural activities -- like wine tastings and dance performances -- might also be included.

Best for: Soft adventure explorers who enjoy the pampering and perks of all-inclusive cruising

Not for: Anyone lacking a sense of adventure and flexibility, or on a tight budget
