Beautiful ship and awesome crew, but....
"The ship itself and the crew really made it a good voyage despite some shortcomings. We chose this cruise last minute when we decided that we would be okay since we were fully vaccinated, and the ship still had good cabins available (plenty of good cabins as it turned out!..."Read More

Exceeded expectations

Review for Carnival Mardi Gras to Caribbean - Eastern

As experienced cruisers we did not have high expectations. We understood going in that Carnival was not a luxury cruise line. Embarking was a breeze. Disembarking was a little unorganized. Not even close to embarking process. Waited a long time to get an elevator. Elevators are a little small and the passengers taking their bags with them made them hold even fewer people. The Mardi Gras ...

Chose cruise because of great price, wanted to try a new boat, only sailed on older versions. Ports- Nassau, Amber Cove, Grand Turk. Stayed in spa interior room. Did not pay for spa treatment but did use spa hot tubs, sauna, heated loungers, enjoyed. Room was small but adequate, clean. We were only in it to sleep. Food I liked…blue iguana tacos and burrito bowls, breakfast buffet in ...

First time on Carnival in a few years. Overall great experience, even during spring break!

We chose this based on the dates due to school vacation. We also chose this cruise line because the one we used to cruise on seems to have gotten really greedy post covid, we saw a better value with this line. The ship; we liked the layout of the ship. With multiple pools, we really didn't have a hard time finding a place, even on sea days. The main pool where all the entertainment happens ...

April 1st Western Caribbean

So we finally made it on the Mardi Gras. A bit about me and my family. I am a gold cruiser and actually went on the original Mardi Gras on a high school graduation trip back in 1993. We were originally scheduled to go on the Mardi Gras in 2020, but y’all know what happened that year. 2021 didn’t happen as we elected to get past the mask mandate. I’m not a regular poster. I did leave a review ...

My wife and I sailed at the end of March. After reading a lot of negative reviews we were surprised at how good the cruise was. Here are our insights: Boarding- Port Canaveral is one of the best ports. It has a nice parking garage. It was easy to navigate and it only took us about 15 minutes to check in. Cabin- we upgraded to a balcony room on the 5th Floor. It was spacious, clean and had a ...

Mardi Gras (Not Ultra At All)

My wife and I sailed on the Mardi Gras for the 1st time on a Casino Ultra cruise March 18 2023. Tips for anyone thinking of sailing on this ship. Don't Do It. The food is probably the worst food we have ever had on a cruise line we ate at both the main dining rooms as well as specialty restaurants and they were both very bad. In most cases we ended up at Guy's Burgers to find edible food. As for ...

Normally avoid spring break but this was a family trip so deferred to them The good: Lovely ship, toned down Carnival decor. Good cabin design and soundproofing. Awesome shower door Very efficient embarkation/debarkation Excellent service everywhere, clean and well maintained public areas The average: Food is just OK. Slightly better in the “street” venues such as the ...

Overall a relaxing cruise

Overall the trip was great. So many places to eat. Service was good most days. Lots of pools. Good entertainment. The negative: children running everywhere unsupervised and very disrespectful. Some rooms got egged with boiled eggs. Knocking on doors and then running away late at night. They were running in the halls and ran into several people. Overall embankment and disembarking were ...

Carnival vs Royal

My wife and I chose this cruise because we like the big ships, and the dates/price were right. We usually cruise Royal Caribbean, so this was a change. This was our 16th cruise, second on Carnival. We arrived at our chosen boarding time, and the process was smooth and quick. Our cabin was a balcony near the aft end of the ship. Good location, however, the Roller Coaster was 4 decks ...

Beautiful Ship, Mostly Hits the Mark!

First cruise since Covid hit, we decided to re-start with a newer ship. Sailed on the Carnival Freedom 8 years ago and were pleasantly surprised with the overall experience. First impression was positive, ship is beautiful, size wasn’t intimidating as we’ve been on Symphony of the Seas in the past. We did find the lack of a true Centre atrium a bit strange, there’s an open theatre mid ship ...
