We started in San Diego and ended up in our home state, which made this a fun trip! We had several family tragedies the months leading up to the trip and it was nice to get away, just the two of us.

I am incredibly disappointed with HAL. I have traveled multiple times with this line and was always delighted.

Chose this cruise for its itinerary.
The good:
-Room steward for our Stateroom 61** (Yurid?) was outstanding.
-Tamarind restaurant - Bonita and Ing Ing were five star servers

All good all round. The food was a bit bland - we think because of the older demographics of the other passengers. But overall we enjoyed it. Bar staff were great and funny. Mask policy was controversial and some guests were a bit angry.

We selected this cruise because of the ports offered and the price point. I went on Oosterdam 2019 and had a fun trip but unfortunately the Zaandam did not come close. The ship was full of walkers and disabled vehicles, the ship was dirty and food mediocre.
