Easy to travel into the ancient city centre from the cruise port. Take a 217 bus from just across the road to the Dimitko Theatre (7 stops) to pick up the Metro. 1 euro 20 for a 90 minute ticket. (travel time 45 minutes from the ship) ...

Visiting the Acropolis is the reason to come to Athens. Despite warnings about how many steps it takes to reach the top, this excursion was not as demanding as one would think. The views were spectacular. Restoration work is being completed on the Parthenon and in the future the splendor of this ancient structure will be worth a re-visit. The ancient Temple of Athena was impressive even though ...

Off again on a trip first scheduled for 2020, Greece. The cruise is aboard the Viking Sea, a step up from the Princess cruises we usually take. After a sleepless night on the plane we arrived in Athens to a beautiful day. It took an hour to reach the ship. It was early afternoon and our room would be ready by 2 so we had lunch. Took the day to unpack and unwind. Definitely liked the ship, ...

Our cruise of the Greek islands began an ended in Piraeus. It's tricky to transfer between the cruise terminal and ferry terminals but we were able to solve it with an overpriced taxi ride. This is a BUSY port. Gird your loins! ...
